Turkey Sandwich with Avocado, Bacon, and Ranch

I love sandwiches. There, I said it. I LOVE SANDWICHES AND I WOULD EAT THEM EVERY DAY. Got that off my chest… One of my most favorite deli meats is turkey. The problem is, I get tired of eating the same old sandwich time after time. I mean, turkey can be boring AF, let’s be honest here. This turkey sandwich with avocado, bacon, and ranch will fix your boring turkey blues, though.

A while back, I started to wonder what to make with turkey sandwich meat that would be just different enough in flavor but also still be a sandwich. That’s when I came up with this recipe. Now, you can substitute some of the ingredients for their healthier counterparts if you’re trying to be better about your diet. I feel like the more natural ingredients in their normal state I eat, the better, but then sometimes you just want bacon.

To make this a healthy turkey melt recipe, I would substitute the bacon for turkey bacon and use a low fat ranch dressing. Avocado and turkey deli meat are pretty healthy already so there’s no substitutions needed there to make this a healthy turkey avocado sandwich.

So, I’m calling this a “turkey melt”, although I have no idea if this recipe is what others in the recipe world would refer to as a turkey melt sandwich recipe. Ah, well. To be honest, IDGAF what others would call it, I’m calling it a turkey melt. How else would you describe melted mozzarella cheese in the oven until it’s brown and bubbly topped with turkey?

To make the turkey melt, I crisped up the bacon in the oven (400 degrees for 20 minutes) ahead of time and let it cool.  I do this whenever I buy bacon, just cook the whole pack and stick the leftovers in the freezer to use later on.

You want to toast up the bread and melt the cheese under the broiler.  Then pile on all the ingredients and drizzle with the ranch dressing. This is the turkey sandwich of legends. This sandwich is seriously so flavorful and amazing.  It’s a different take on a classic turkey sandwich with avocado, it’s less boring cousin who brought bacon, ranch, and cheese to the party in my mouth.

I think if you make this sandwich, you’ll have a hard time eating just a plain old turkey sandwich ever again.  Trust me on this one.

Yield: 4 sandwiches

Turkey Sandwich with Avocado, Bacon, and Ranch

prep time: 5 minscook time: 10 minstotal time: 15 mins

A new twist on a turkey sandwich with avocado, this sandwich includes mozzarella cheese, ranch dressing, and bacon to make a complete meal.


1 baguette, sliced into 4 equal pieces and then sliced in half lengthwise

½ lb of thinly sliced oven roasted turkey breast

8 pieces of bacon, cooked until crisp

1 avocado, sliced

¼ c ranch dressing, divided

2 c mozzarella cheese, grated


Preheat broiler to high.  Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil. Set aside.

Open bread pieces so you have 8 pieces laying cut side up.  Sprinkle cheese evenly among all pieces of bread. Place into oven for 3-5 minutes or until cheese is melted, bubbling, and slightly browned.  Remove from oven.

Layer one half of bread with turkey, bacon, and avocado.  Drizzle with ranch dressing and serve.
