Brown Sugar Banana Butter a.k.a. Banana Jam
This brown sugar banana butter is actual heaven in a jar. Trust me on this one, it’s THAT good.
About a year ago, I was at our local farmer’s market and came across a small booth where there was jam for sale. I came across something called “monkey butter” which I had never experienced before. It really started my journey down the path of unique jam recipes.
I had to ask myself, “Can you make banana jam?” Like, how is this a thing and how are there not more options of jam in the grocery store made out of banana?
Well, the best answer to this is that it really stores best as a homemade banana butter and not something on a larger scale because you need to keep it in the fridge for long-term storage, even if you can it. (At least that’s how I tested it).
So, once I asked myself whether or not it was possible to make a banana butter recipe, I started to think about how to make banana jam. Honestly, it’s SO incredibly easy.
Basically you just chop up bananas, throw them in a pot with some sugar and mash the shit out of them until you get jam. Throw in some spices and DONE.
This jam tastes EXACTLY like banana bread. It’s banana bread butter, basically banana bread in a jar. Spread it on a waffle for breakfast and you’ve got the most delicious breakfast ever.
All that being said, go make a jar, store it in the fridge (if it lasts that long…) and then make one to give away because sharing is caring.
